Do you want to work on the most important mission critical system that is the backbone for Microsoft’s internal transactional infrastructure? As a member of this advanced team, you will play a key role in the providing 24x7 system support of Microsoft’s SAP business systems by ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, reliability, and recoverability. As a Technologist on our team you will be directly responsible for SAP Basis administration - Level 3 Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Design Engineering, Service Operations, upgrading these systems to new versions of SAP and Roll out and Test Windows and SQL Server beta versions and provide crucial feedback to product development groups. As a member of SAP Technical Services your responsibilities will be to manage the systems, coordinate and contribute to all activities associated with supporting the high visibility Enterprise Application Services systems. You will provide technical expertise and drive the implementation of automated monitoring solutions that alert and provide valuable availability metrics.
Core Job Responsibilities:
• The role of Sr. Technologist is to perform support and operations within the Microsoft IT ASM-SAP group. This person will maintain, optimize and upgrade the existing system and provide architectural and procedural advice on new systems build as part of projects from the EAS-SAP project team.
• The person hired in this position will become a subject matter expert for Microsoft’s SAP system landscape and the interfaces. Building on his extensive existing knowledge and experience this person will be responsible for creating and maintaining the SAP system landscape.
• Proactive monitoring of systems (SAP, SQL, Network, OS, external components). Enjoys and excels at conducting performance analysis, advanced troubleshooting and capacity planning.
• Works extremely well under pressure. In the event of a major emergency, can lead as well as execute a predefined Incident Response Plan. Can also quickly determine options and be able to make critical business impacting decisions.
• Database (preferably SQL 2005 and above) Performance Tuning and Optimization: Can identify poor performing queries, recommend code changes and index solutions.
• SAP Basis Administration: Use your in-depth SAP Basis skills to resolve a wide variety of technical issues, manage configuration, and maintain performance.
• Can identify, document, develop and implement automated monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Work closely with Management, Application Support, Development, Test and Project Management to find solutions, work through problems, and implement new projects, while building good rapport.

Skills Requirements/Qualifications
• 8 to 10 years of strong experience in Basis Administration, implementing and supporting large-scale SAP installations (ERP, E-Recruiting, APO, GTS etc.). Detailed knowledge of SAP Architecture, standard system tables and Performance Management required, functional SAP knowledge a plus.
• Strong Windows 2003/2008 Server, SQL Server 2000-2008 (or comparable RDBMS), and Internet Information Server (IIS5-6 and 7) Administration skills in a large scale production environment; extensive knowledge of client server architecture; advanced ability to analyze, design and architect IT systems
• Strong experience in SAP products/technologies like ECC 6, Java AS, APO, GTS, BI etc.
• In depth knowledge and experience in SAP Support package implementation, EhPs, STMS, Upgrades, Installations, Sizing, High Availability design.
• In depth technical knowledge with Microsoft Windows operating system or equivalent (including MSCS, Active Directory, Networking and Storage technologies), MOM or monitoring technologies
• Understanding of complex systems architectures, SDLC methodology and information systems development.
• Candidates with working knowledge of scripting languages, (VBS, ADSI, Perl, Batch, PowerShell, etc.) preferred.
• A solid knowledge of MOF and/or ITIL and the practical application of these methodologies a strong plus. A detailed understanding of the Service Design Engineering role and demonstrated practical application is essential.
• The position requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation, shared with the global team.
• Microsoft and/or SAP certifications will be a plus
• B Tech/B.E degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
